History of the Journal

The publishing history of „Studia do Dziejów Architektury i Urbanistyki w Polsce” („Studies on the History of Architecture and Urban Planning in Poland”) dates back to the pre-war tradition, when the Faculty of Architecture at the Warsaw University of Technology published scientific periodicals devoted to the problems of the history of architecture and urban planning of the past and present Republic of Poland.

One of these was the „Biuletyn Historii Sztuki i Kultury” („Bulletin of the Art and Cultural History”), the continuation of which is the periodical „Biuletyn Historii Sztuki” („Bulletin of Art History”), published to this day by the Institute of Art of the Polish Academy of Sciences. The other, not reactivated after the war, was the periodical „Studia do dziejów sztuki w Polsce" (Studies on the History of Art in Poland).

The annual „Studia do Dziejów Architektury i Urbanistyki w Polsce” („Studies on the History of Architecture and Urban Planning in Poland) was established on the initiative of the staff of the Department of Polish Architecture of the Warsaw University of Technology, who thus decided to revive the tradition, initiated in the late 1920’s by its founder Oskar Sosnowski, which was interrupted after 1945, of the publication by the Faculty of Architecture of the Warsaw University of Technology of scholarly periodicals devoted to the problems of the history and documentation of architecture and urbanism of the past and present Republic of Poland.

„Studia do Dziejów Architektury i Urbanistyki w Polsce" („Studies on the History of Architecture and Urban Planning in Poland”), published since 2018 as a monographic continuous publication.

Since 2022, the annual „Studia do Dziejów Architektury i Urbanistyki w Polsce” („Studies on the History of Architecture and Urban Planning in Poland”), has been a peer-reviewed scientific journal.
